The Mass
Our worship is in the Anglo-Catholic tradition of the Church of England. The Mass is central to the life of the church family, when we are daily nourished and strengthened by the Body and Blood of Christ, and when we listen to his saving Word in the Holy Scriptures.

The Mass is a profound mystery, one which God has called some men to minister to other Christians as priests. But all of us, whether ordained or lay people, are called to share in the heavenly banquet that awaits us after death.

In the Mass we experience a foretaste of that banquet, and we receive under the auspices of bread and wine the real body and blood of the incarnate Lord. The Bible tells us that those who eat and drink these heavenly gifts will live for ever, renewed and at one with the living God. It is because of this profound truth that the Mass is treated with reverence and respect.

The Sunday Mass is enriched with fine music led by the organ and the parish choir. We use the New English Hymnal and a variety of Mass settings, including Merbecke and Missa de Angelis, which add to the beauty and dignity of our praise to God.

Daily Prayer
The day begins and ends at St Helen's church with Morning and Evening Prayer, which are said at 09:00 and 18:00 respectively.

Each office lasts approximately 15 minutes, and in that time we recite psalms, read Scripture and pray to God. It is a time for reflection and meditation, and is a good way quietly to allow the still small voice of the Lord to speak to us.

It is important for Christians to deepen their faith and develop their relationship with God by praying each day.  You might find the Universalis website helpful for your own daily prayers.
