Restoration of St Helen's Church

In 2001 a major restoration of the church took place at a cost of £170,000.

The Main Areas of Work were:

• Renewal of the whole church floor.
  
• Installation of a damp course.
  
• Renewal of the pipework of the central heating system under the new floor. 
  
• Replacement of built in pews with high quality, free standing oak pews to make room for drama, concerts and exhibitions. 
  
• Removal of Sandtex external paint on the internal walls and reversion to limewash. 
  
• Re-point of external masonry. 
  
• Restoration of Rood Screen. 
  
• Improvement of disabled access and installation of a loop system for the hard of hearing.
