Sacraments & Life Events
Sacraments are things of the Church which are holy. The Church of England prayer book describes a sacrament as 'an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace'. The Church teaches that there are seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Penance, the Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. These sacraments 'touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life; they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian's life of faith.' Use the links below to find out more about Sacraments, what to do if you would like to have a child baptised, get married at S. Helen's Church or find out more about the Christian faith and belief.
The Church also ministers to the community at other stages of natural life which often mirror stages of our spiritual lives. Many people will look for the help and comfort of the Church at times of bereavement, anxiety, stress, relationship breakdown and other events within life which cause pain and difficulty. Please do contact one of our priests or members of our congregation if you would like to talk to someone. Use the link below if you have been bereaved or need to arrange a funeral.
