The Rev'd Canon Robert McTeer SSC
Fr McTeer was born in Whickham and has lived all his life in the North East. His early Christian formation was at S. Mary the Virgin, Whickham where he worshiped from a very early age, singing in the choir, bell ringing, serving and as a member of the scout and youth groups.
As a young adult he played a full part in parish life. He worked in the retail trade with the Cooperative Society and was Area General Manger before training for the priesthood.
Having trained at Chichester Theological College, Fr McTeer was ordained in 1992 and served his curacy at All Saints’ South Shields. He moved to St Helen Auckland in 1995. Fr McTeer is Honorary Canon of S. Peter’s Cathedral, Koforidua, Ghana, and is Local Vicar of the Society of the Holy Cross.
